Cookies Policy

Last updated: May 2026 · Applicable to thread.work, the web platform and the mobile app

ThreadWork AG, Sempacherstrasse 5, 6003 Lucerne, Switzerland — support@thread.work

This Cookies Policy explains how ThreadWork AG (hereinafter «ThreadWork») uses cookies and comparable technologies on our website thread.work and our web platform. It supplements, and should be read together with, our Privacy Policy, which governs the processing of personal data more generally. In the event of any inconsistency concerning the processing of personal data, the Privacy Policy shall prevail.

1. Scope and Purpose of this Cookies Policy

This Cookies Policy applies to the use of cookies and similar technologies on our website and web platform. It is governed by Swiss data protection law, in particular the Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP), and, to the extent applicable, by the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) together with the applicable national provisions implementing the ePrivacy rules.

2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small files that your browser automatically creates and that are stored on your end device when you visit a website. They cause no harm and contain no malware. We further use comparable technologies, such as local storage and pixels, which fulfil similar functions; for the sake of simplicity, all such technologies are referred to collectively as «cookies» in this policy.

A distinction is drawn between first-party cookies, which are set by ThreadWork, and third-party cookies, which are set by the providers we engage (see Section 5). Cookies may further be distinguished according to their duration: session cookies are deleted upon closure of the browser, whereas persistent cookies remain stored on your end device for a defined period or until you delete them.

3. Why We Use Cookies

We use cookies in order to provide our offering on a secure, reliable and user-friendly basis, to maintain your authenticated session on the web platform, to remember your preferences and, where you have consented, to analyse and improve the use of our offering. We do not use cookies for advertising, targeting or interest-based marketing purposes, and we do not disclose data obtained through cookies to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Categories of Cookies We Use

a) Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required for the functionality of the website and the platform and cannot be deactivated. They serve, in particular, to maintain your authenticated session, to ensure security (for instance protection against fraudulent use), to enable core platform functions, and to store your cookie preferences. Without these cookies, the requested services cannot be provided. They are set on the basis of our legitimate interest in the secure and proper operation of our offering and do not require consent.

b) Functional and Preference Cookies

These cookies enable the website and platform to remember choices you make — such as your language, region or display preferences — in order to provide enhanced and more personalised functionality. Where such cookies are not strictly necessary, they are set only upon your consent.

c) Analytics and Performance Cookies

These cookies allow us to understand how visitors interact with our website and platform, for instance which pages are visited and how the offering performs, so that we may improve it. Analytics cookies are set only upon your express consent or on the basis of anonymised data. Where the analytics services of US-based providers are used, a transfer of data to the United States may take place (see Section 9).

We do not use advertising or marketing cookies. The mobile app does not use cookies for advertising purposes and does not track users for marketing purposes; it collects only such data as is necessary for its operation.

5. Third-Party and Provider Cookies

In the course of providing our services, we engage third-party providers who may set cookies or process data by comparable means. These include, in particular:

  • Google — where you connect your Google Business Profile, the connection is established by way of the OAuth 2.0 procedure; the terms and policies of Google additionally apply, and the related processing of data is described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Stripe — our payment service provider, which may set cookies necessary for payment processing and for the prevention of fraud.
  • Analytics and monitoring providers — engaged, subject to your consent, to measure and improve the performance of our offering.
  • Cloud infrastructure providers — engaged for hosting and for ensuring the security and stability of the service.

The third-party providers currently in use, together with the specific cookies they set, are listed in the cookie banner on our website, which constitutes the authoritative and up-to-date record. The processing of data by these providers is further described in Section 5 of our Privacy Policy.

6. Legal Basis for the Use of Cookies

To the extent that the GDPR is applicable, strictly necessary cookies are set on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (overriding legitimate interest in the secure and proper operation of our offering), while functional, preference and analytics cookies are set on the basis of Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent). Under the FADP, non-necessary cookies are likewise set only upon your consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future (see Section 7).

7. Consent and the Cookie Banner

When you first visit our website, a cookie banner enables you to grant, decline or selectively manage your consent to non-necessary cookies. Strictly necessary cookies are set irrespective of your choice, as they are required for the operation of the website. You may review and amend your preferences at any time by way of the settings accessible through the cookie banner, with effect for the future. The cookie banner further sets out the specific cookies and providers in use, together with their respective storage periods.

8. Managing and Disabling Cookies

In addition to the cookie banner, you may deactivate cookies in whole or in part at any time within your browser settings, and you may delete cookies already stored. The procedure for doing so depends on the browser used; the relevant instructions are generally available within the help function of the respective browser. Please note that, without cookies, our website and platform may not be available in their full extent and certain functions may not operate correctly.

Where access has been granted to your Google account, you may revoke that authorisation at any time within the settings of your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions or by disconnecting the connection within ThreadWork, as further described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Transfer of Data Abroad

Where cookies are set by providers located outside Switzerland or the European Economic Area (EEA) — in particular in connection with analytics services or payment processing via Stripe — a transfer of data to third countries, including the United States, may take place. Such a transfer occurs only where an adequate level of data protection is ensured (for instance by way of an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses) or another legal basis exists, in accordance with Section 9 of our Privacy Policy.

10. Retention Periods of Cookies

Session cookies are deleted automatically upon closure of your browser. Persistent cookies remain stored for the period specified in the cookie banner or until you delete them. We retain data obtained through cookies only for such period as is necessary for the respective purpose, in accordance with the retention and deletion principles set out in Section 10 of our Privacy Policy.

11. Amendments to this Cookies Policy

By reason of the further development of our offering or on account of amended statutory requirements, it may become necessary to amend this Cookies Policy. The Cookies Policy as in force from time to time may be accessed at any time on our website. We will inform you of material changes in an appropriate manner.
